Enter Posterous.

Posterous makes it really simple to post content and share with your readers. Simply set up your Posterous and email your posts from your computer or cell phone to your Posterous account with attached pictures, videos, files, and mp3’s. If you send an email link from YouTube it will show up on your Posterous as a video. iTunes Podcats are posted instantly as well.

It’s that simple you don’t have to log in to post content. The information that you type on your subject line of your email turns into the title of your post and any attachments or the body of your email turns into the body of your blog post.

You can also set up your Posterous autopost to multiple social networks including:

Blogger
Wordpress
Typepad
Movable Type
Livejournal
Xanga

Add other authors to create a community or multi-user blog. One of my favorite features is the bookmarklet. The Posterous bookmarklet is a button that you drag to your browser’s toolbar. When your browsing the web and you run into a video or picture click on the bookmarklet and you can automatically post this to your Posterous.

Setting up analytics for your Posterous and a custom domain is a piece of cake. By the way, like many other blogging services this one is free too.

When I was about 8 years old, on our annual family summer vacation in England, our car was making a funny noise. Worried about being stuck somewhere on the road my parents found a dealership with a service department. We were told to wait in the parking lot and that someone would be with us momentarily. A few minutes later a middle-aged man with graying hair and glasses approached our car. In his spotless white lab coat, he looked more like a doctor or research scientist, than a car mechanic. He asked my mother to release the hood and start the motor. After only a few moments bent over the front, he told her to turn off the car, smiled, and said he would be right back. And he was, with a single wrench, slid under the car, tightened a bolt and sent us happily on our way. He wouldn’t even accept a tip.

From that day forward I secretly harbored the wish to become a car mechanic.

As it turned out, what I was really fascinated with was the power of the ear and the brain that is connected to it. A single sound or the first few chords of a song can instantaneously send us back in time and place, just like a smell. For this evocative power, sound has a sheer limitless potential to emotionally connect with an audience or potential clients. Listening to music can change our mood, help us get motivated, relax or drive us crazy. It can tell us a story or give us the invisible subtext to a story told in another medium. Hearing is a perfect combination of analytical and emotional perception. These are the things I want to write about on this blog and how they apply to advertising, film making, producing music and the success of your business.

One of the many tools that is available to businesses in LinkedIn is the Business Profile. If you are a business, your profile should be listed in this area. Company profiles on LinkedIn are a great way to find companies to work and partner up with.

Company Profiles have two components:  information about people in the company  and statistics about employees.

You can promote your company on LinkedIn as well by clicking on the “Add a Company” link (see image above)

You will be able to edit information about your company,  such as description, headquarters address, website and revenue.

If you have several twitter accounts there are tools that can help you in multitasking Twitter. A word of caution. Always triple check that you are updating from the correct account. It is also a good idea to familiarize yourself with the delete buttons just in case you do tweet from the wrong account.

	Will allow you to manage unlimited twitter accounts. Moniter link patterns  to see how may people have clicked on a certain link. You can tweet from within Hootsuite or you tweet from Hootsuite’s Hootlet Bookmark. If you stumble on a website that you like you can click on the Hootlet bookmark and will automatically add the title and link and have it sent out to the twittersphere. There is also an option to add different users/editors  to your profiles. Hootsuite also integrates with Ping.fm
	You can manage multiple accounts and follow your contacts in one place. You can hide accounts and only monitor ones that your are heavily active in.
	Allows you to managage multiple accounts and customize each one with different colors. You can also track your url’s to see who is clicking within Google’s API map. Tweet3 also integrates with Facebook.

I recently interviewed Jessica Chapman of Room to Breathe, a professional organizinger in Sacramento, CA in regards to her report The Collaboration Manifesto. In the manifesto she explained the importance of collaboration with associates, vendors, suppliers, and people in other industries that complement a business’s overall need for growth.

Without collaboration a business’s growth simply becomes stagnant between the first and third year of business. They want to grow their business without any help. They watch their competitors grow their sales and client base and they are left behind. Chapman points out, “In a great economy collaboration is a really good idea to do. In a down economy where people are freaking out about money and not sure where things are going to come, collaboration is a necessity. You have to work with people in other businesses and truly let go of the competition mindset and come into a collaborative mindset, because otherwise, it’s you swimming alone in the big old sea and you get tired and you’re frustrated, and you give up the ghost and then you need to go find a job.” Not only your watching your competition pass you by, your business is in jeopardy as well.

How do you become a collaborator in today’s market?

Collaboration usually begins by networking in mixers and other types of events. A person attends an event, they meet a prospective client or partner, gets their business card and then follows up after a couple of days with an email or telephone call. However, many times business cards are thrown away, emails are not received and telephone calls are not returned.

The other option is to develop an online strategy and develop relationships online. With extensive research you can profile your target client by utilizing available free resources. You can start by joining professional groups on Ning Websites, Facebook Groups, LinkedIn Groups, and Twitter. Find a person that complements your business and do the research. Start by seeking an individual’s profile on LinkedIn. LinkedIn will essentially give you a person’s full resume and profile. You will usually gain access to their main website or blog as well as any other social media platforms that they might belong to. Next you can start communicating through Twitter with short messages or through Facebook with messages longer than 140 characters in length. With these resources you will save time by targeting specifically those businesses that you want to do business with.

Once you have your specific target clients you will develop relationships and discover what resources they can use from you and vice versa. This is where essentially trade begins and life-long relationships start to build.
